Easy Fixturing

Easy Fixturing System

AQL's Easy Fix System:

AQL manufactures its own easy fixture design which incorporates quicker assembling time, tighter fixture height tolerance, minimum guide plates needed, reduced drill time for a cost effective solution to build bare board test fixture. the fixture design incorporates AQL's many years of experience at building tens of thousands of test fixtures over the past 15 years.

Currently, in building test fixtures, posts. donuts and Christmas trees are used to separate the plates. This means:

bulletDifferent size donuts to be in inventory
bulletPotential assembling stack up mistakes and/or problems
bulletMultiple tolerances in fixture heights due to donut and plate tolerances
bulletThe need of patented standoffs with special hole design to lock the plates in place.

AQL's new design would take care of all of the above listed potential problems. It:

bulletReduces assembly time to virtually minutes,
bulletRequires the smallest amount of materials to stock,
bulletIs compatible with most test fixtures.

Even if you want your own plate spacing and a few more plates, the Easy Fix system will still work, plus you can use and control the plate spacing and hole diameters with your current fixturing software.

We have suggested fixture construction, using the least amount of plates, excellent loading characteristics for featureless pins, and space for Latex and Nylon Mesh to hold pins. All plates are identified and cannot be misloaded due to the separator design.

Drawing 1: Shows Loading Tree mounted on loading plate. Bottom plate (slotted plate with countersunk hole) of fixture (.125 G-10) drops on to loading tree. Guide plate(s) drops on to loading tree, stopping at appropriate level; i.e., #2 guide plate shown dropping on to the loading tree.

Drawing 2: Shows all guide plates and bottom G-10 plate in position. Target (personality) plate drops on to the top of the loading tree. Clearances in loading plate will allow for screws in loading tree. Slots get smaller to match loading tree channels.

Drawing 3: Shows Separator post lock into slots in guide plates. The spacing of the guide plates at rest on the loading tree match the spacing on the separator post. fixture assembler needs only to slide separator post into slots in guide plates.

Drawing 4: Shows separator post locked in guide plate slots ready to be screwed in at top and bottom to hold G-10 plates. All corners are rounded for operator's safety.

AQL's Easy Fix Numbering system:

AQL's Easy Fix Kits can be purchased as double side kits (DSEK), consisting of Primary (PSEK) and secondary (SSEK) side fixture plates, or they can be purchased separately. Additional benefits with the AQL Quick Stacks are:
  1) Drill room Tooling in every plate
  2) Rounded plate corners
  3) Plate identification drilled onto every plate
  4) Latex or Nylon Mesh included in each kit
  5) Individual plates can be ordered as needed
  6) Kits can be purchased customized for less plates needed
  7) Kits are in stock for immediate shipping
  8) Any combination of G-10 or Lexan available
  9) Phenolic availble on outter plates

Part numbers: (L-L=Lexan on all plates P1-P8; F-F=G-10 on P1 and P8, and Lexan on P2-P7; G=G10 on all plates; P-P=Phenolic on P1 and P8, and Lexan on P2-P7)
